Product specifications ASP containers

Our ASP containers have specifically been designed for lithium-ion batteries. When it comes to ADR compliance, these containers can be used to store and transport all types of chemical batteries.

However, when we did our fire-safety tests, we only tested with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions. Therefore, we can offer no safety guarantee when you use our ASP containers for lithium primary batteries. Nevertheless, our ASP containers are currently the safest option available.

All safety testing was done with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions. For more information, please contact us.

Our ASP containers can be used for different types of chemical batteries. However, during our fire-safety tests, we only tested with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions.

Yes, our ASP containers can be used for undamaged and/or damaged non-critical EV modules. For the ASP 520, the maximum allowable net mass of a module or battery is 400 kg. For the ASP 260, this is 322 kg. Remember, it’s essential to stabilise the batteries correctly. Bebat PRO can help you with this.

For the ASP 520:

  • The maximum allowed nett mass for a module or battery is 400 kg.
  • The volume is 538 litres (1015 mm x 653 mm x 812 mm).

For the ASP 260:

  • The maximum allowed nett mass for a module or battery is 322 kg.
  • The volume is 254 litres (652 mm x 585 mm x 665 mm).

If you have specific questions about using the ASP container, please contact us.

The ASP containers are made with galvanised steel. This protects the steel from corrosion, but not from all chemicals. Place an inliner in the container to prevent chemicals coming into contact with the steel.

The ASP containers can be used outdoor in normal weather conditions.

The ASP containers can be placed outside in the rain; they are water-resistant.

In the lid of each ASP container, you will find two flame arresting filters. These filters stop the flames from coming through, whilst letting the smoke escape, preventing overpressure.

The ASP containers have a 4A UN certification. While a check-up is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to do one after every use. Check for damages and ensure that all functionalities are still in working order. With proper care and maintenance, an ASP container can last for 20 years or more.

Periodic inspections or re-certifications for Bebat PRO ASP containers are not legally required. However, we strongly recommend checking the container after each use to ensure it remains in good condition and all functionalities are working properly.

For the ASP 520, the maximum allowed net mass is 400 kg. For the ASP 260, this is 322 kg. In line with the ADR regulations, there is no restriction on kWh (except for the P911 transport and packaging instructions). If you are interested in the results of our fire-safety tests, we can share our report with you.

Yes, when you order a minimum of 5 ASP containers, personalisation is possible. For example, your logo can be printed – in one colour – on your ASP containers.

The lid of the Bebat PRO ASP container has two flame arresting filters. Smoke can pass through to prevent overpressure from building, but flames are prevented from passing through.

A basic ASP container does not protect against overpressure. In a basic ASP, high pressure can build during a fire, with the risk of explosion.

According to ADR legislation, a damaged or defective lithium-ion battery must be transported in packaging equipped with a protection device against overpressure. It’s important to keep in mind that a regular ASP container is approved for the transport of used, non-damaged or defective lithium-ion batteries, but is not fire-safe.

Product specifications drums

The drums are made of steel with an epoxy coating, protecting the steel from corrosion and chemicals. This coating also prevents a short circuit from happening when the batteries come into contact with the steel.

All safety tests were carried out with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions. For more information, please contact us.

The drums can be used outdoor as they can withstand moisture, heat or cold.

The epoxy coating protects the steel from corrosion and chemicals. It also prevents a short circuit from happening when the batteries in the drum come into contact with the steel.

When the lid is closed and the sticker is applied properly, the drums can be placed outside in the rain. They are water-resistant.

The lid has a flame arresting filter, which stops the flames from passing through, whilst letting the smoke escape, preventing overpressure. During our fire-safety tests that took place under certain conditions, the flames were contained within the drum. If you would like to know more about the test results, please contact us.

Our drums are 1A2 UN certified. They don’t need to be re-approved after every usage. However, after each use, they need to be checked for damage, and you need to ensure that all functionalities are in working order.

Periodic inspections or re-certifications for Bebat PRO drums are not legally required. However, we strongly recommend checking the drum after each use to ensure it remains in good condition and all functionalities are working properly.

The 53-litre drum is X76=Y114 approved: depending on the type of battery, it can carry 76 or 114 kg of batteries.

The 62-litre drum is X82=Y123 approved: depending on the type of battery, it can carry 82 or 123 kg of batteries.

The 53-litre drum with standard lid can be used for all types of portable batteries. The 62-litre drum with reinforced lid can be used for lithium-ion packs (e.g. from a power tool, E-bike, E-step) as well.

According to ADR regulations, the drums can be used for all types of chemical batteries. However, when we did our fire-safety tests, we only tested with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions. Therefore, we can offer no safety guarantee when you use our drums for lithium primary batteries.

The 53-litre drum can, depending on the type of battery, carry up to 114 kg of batteries.

The 62-litre drum can, depending on the type of battery, carry up to 123 kg of batteries.

According to ADR regulations there is no restriction on kWh (except for the P911 transport and packaging instructions).

We offer light green with dark blue lettering as a standard option. Customisation is available under certain conditions. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Services & Delivery

The ASP containers and drums can be delivered worldwide. A full truck load consists of 594 drums, and a full sea container holds 540 drums. Deliveries within Europe are Incoterms DAP, and deliveries outside Europe are Incoterms FCA.

Delivery times depend on stock availability and your specific arrangements with Bebat PRO. As a general rule, delivery takes 12 weeks for drums that are in stock, and up to 20 weeks if they need to be manufactured.

Drums, transport lids for drums, and ASP containers are only available in standard dimensions. However, certain adaptations can be made to the collection lids. Please contact us to discuss your wishes.

Costs for delivery and collection depend on the terms in the contract. For more information on rental contracts in Belgium, please contact us.

Bebat PRO does not offer this service. In Belgium, full ASP containers can be collected by Bebat VZW, the producer responsibility organisations (PRO) responsible for battery collection. Each country has it's own way of working, so please contact the local PRO for more information.

Safety & compliance ASP containers

The ASP containers are UN-certified for the transport of dangerous goods.

Please contact us for more information.

The containers must be placed on a flat surface. Don’t stack more than 3 full or 6 empty containers on top of each other.

Detailed manuals are available with information on safe use. We do not provide on-site training.

Damaged containers must be inspected and, if necessary, repaired or replaced. For rentals in Belgium, incidental damage should be reported to Bebat PRO immediately.

Yes, the ASP containers are UN certified for the transport of dangerous goods, following international standards.

We also did several safety tests. They were carried out with lithium-ion batteries under specific conditions. We can’t give any safety guarantees for use with primary lithium batteries. Please contact us for more information.

First and foremost, follow your own safety guidelines. If possible, direct water through the extinguishing holes in the ASP container without opening it. If you need assistance from the fire brigade, ambulance, or police, contact emergency services through the usual channels.

Each ASP container has an instruction label on top of the lid. For more information, please contact us.

Our suppliers who produce the drums and ASP containers hold ISO certificates. These can be made available upon request. Please contact us for more information.

Yes, after a fire, the ASP container can be reused. Make sure to clean and inspect it, and – if necessary – replace the flame arresting filters and the fire rope in the lid of the ASP container. Depending on the extent of the fire, you might be able to reuse certain components. Contact us for more information or advice.

Of course! A specific report can be shared upon request. Please contact us for more information.
